Ukrainian Civilian Organizations for Humanitarian Aid

The following is a list of grassroots, on-the-ground organizations and the foreign organizations partnered with them who are either presently accepting donations, or monitoring human rights violations against minority groups in Ukraine that may not make it to mainstream media.

It does not include organizations directly affiliated with the Ukrainian military, but neither does it exclude those providing soldiers with medical aid alongside civilians.

Some of the websites below may not have English text options. In this case, for those who do not know Ukrainian, I recommend the use of your browser's auto-translate features.

Note: This list has already seen many updates and additions based on information from trusted sources. That being said, please use your own discretion when choosing where and how to donate, and do not neglect to do your own research where possible.

Ukraine-based Civilian Emergency Aid

Currently providing internally-displaced persons with shelter, distributing groceries and hygiene products to those in need, and maintaining other year-round social programs.

"Funds will be used to help those in need, affected by armed conflict, blood collection, mobilization of volunteers and resources, and emergency activities."

A charitable organization doing ongoing work finding shelter for internally displaced persons, assisting in the evacuation of people from the conflict zone, collecting and distributing humanitarian aid in Kyiv as well as delivering humanitarian aid to front-line settlements, and providing psychological first aid.

Urgently seeking donations to help support Ukrainian hospitals.

Link to bank information to donate to this mission providing ongoing aid to conflict-affected populations in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine since 2014.

Public volunteer organization active since 2014. Coordinating assistance to the civilian population in the Donbass conflict zone and internally displaced persons, including legal assistance, evacuation services and humanitarian aid.


Foreign Humanitarian Aid Organizations Partnered with People on the Ground

UK-based Sikh organization presently seeking help in bringing food, resources and other evacuation assistance to Indian students in Ukraine.

Link to bank transfer/Paypal info to support a convoy of volunteers presently heading to the Ukrainian-Polish border to help black refugees fleeing Ukraine.

Czech-based emergency response organization presently raising funds for cash assistance, food aid, hygiene items and support of facilities for internally-displaced people in Ukraine and neighboring countries currently affected by a large refugee wave.

Romania-based social initiative presently seeking donations to assist with their ongoing effort to offer important information for Ukrainians seeking the protection of the Romanian state, and assisting families with children who have already arrived from Ukraine to Romania.

Hungary-based charitable organization presently collaborating with the Age of Hope foundation to supply Ukrainian refugees with food and hygiene products.

Poland-based non-profit seeking donations to continue assisting refugees with housing, renovation of rooms or flats, filling out documents, therapy, learning Polish, and legal assistance.

Poland-based activist movement presently connecting refugee Ukrainians with information and resources for crossing the border and seeking asylum in Poland.

International US-based non-profit organization actively shipping essential medicines and medical supplies to affected areas in Ukraine.

US-based Ukrainian-American organization presently raising funds for humanitarian aid and to help evacuate vulnerable populations from Ukraine. Their website has different donation options where you can choose which initiative to assist.

Another US-based Ukrainian-American organization presently shipping emergency medical supplies to Ukrainian pharmacies and funding further humanitarian aid in the region.

A Canada-based Ukrainian-Canadian organization presently raising funds for a humanitarian relief effort providing aid in the assistance of displaced persons, medical care, emergency shelter and food security in Ukraine.

Canada-based Ukrainian-Canadian organization with a history of humanitarian aid in Ukraine dating back to 1993. They are presently seeking donations to implement evacuation and relocation of staff and beneficiaries, humanitarian aid delivery and medical assistance for victims of the war.


Medical Assistance Organizations in Ukraine

Palliative care, adult oncology, respiratory support, distributing Covid-19 resources. Presently "preparing to help those who may be affected by future combat." (https://www.facebook.com/cf.svoyi)

Provides emergency medical, social and humanitarian assistance to children and the elderly in Odessa and the Odessa region, as well as provides medical institutions in the city and region with medicines, medical supplies and equipment.

A harm reduction organization with a focus on helping people impacted by HIV, partivularly through marginalized populations. They are presently holding a fundraiser to provide individual financial assistance, procurements of food, medicines, essential supplies, and assistance with moving to shelters.

They are also partnered with Lithuania-based organization Eurasian Harm Reduction Association (EHRA), who are collecting funds at this link (for those who may find them closer to home/ easier to navigate).


Ukrainian Children's Aid Organizations

Provides psychological and psychosocial support to children affected by war in eastern Ukraine.

UK-based emergency fund started by an organization with a history of aiding children in Ukraine. They are seeking funds to help deliver winter and hygiene kits, provide cash grants to families so they can meet basic needs, aid access to safer education, and provide psychological help for victims of war.


Organizations Aiding People with Disabilties in Ukraine

Organization advocating for the rights of people with disabilities in Ukraine. They are presently operating a hotline for emergency cases and seeking funding to support both their existing efforts and provide further humanitarian aid.


Organizations Aiding the Elderly in Ukraine

Provides targeted aid for the elderly, including hot lunches, medicines, medical, household and social assistance, and community programs.

Provides care and resources for older people living alone and in state retirement homes, and advocates for higher standards of elderly care in Ukraine.

Distributes grocery-household kits (groceries and hygiene products) to the elderly.


Organizations Aiding the Homeless in Ukraine

Originally an Instagram-based documentary project on homelessness in Kyiv. It has involved into an activist initiative to "feed, heat, help with documents, work, search for relatives and departure home, protect the rights of people without a home and registration."


Ukrainian Feminist and LGBTQ Organizations

Note: Updated to reflect fundraisers you can donate to directly to provide the most immediate aid.

A Ukrainian trans rights organization presently accepting donations to help trans people access food and medicine, as well as the resources needed for evacuation.

A mutual aid organization led by internally-displaced women in Ukraine. They are accepting donations to continue their ongoing work to help people in crisis, with an even greater focus on food and shelter for refugees.

Ukrainian feminist LGBTQ organization currently providing psychological crisis support and resources for the evacuation of vulnerable groups.

Presently holding daily emergency meetings and running questionnaires to assess the evolving needs of the LGBTQ community in Ukraine at war. They are requesting funds to assist with housing, food, relocation from dangerous areas, hygiene products, warm blankets, mats, etc.

Ukrainian LGBT organization presently engaged in offering psychological help services and resources to vulnerable groups seeking assistance in the form of shelter abroad.

Zaporizhzhia-based organization fighting for gender equality and queer rights. Engaged in critiquing far-right nationalist narratives. Note: watch for updates.

Ukrainian youth organization promoting anti-discrimination education and creating peer support spaces for those impacted by HIV/AIDs. They are presently involved in providing peer counseling for young people affected by the war.

A feminist, pro-LGBT group in Mariupol organized by internally-displaced people united by the war in Ukraine. They have presently converted their platforms/spaces into an information headquarters for people in Mariupol, spreading knowledge that can save lives.

An organization promoting education about women's physiology, access to abortion and professional opportunities. Note: watch for updates.

Established women's rights NGO with over two decades of work around gender equality and domestic violence. They are presently engaged in psychological support for people who have been in the shooting zone. Note: watch for updates.

Ukrainian feminist organization promoting women's labor and economic rights. They are involved in educational projects on how women are affected by war.

An organization promoting adult and non-formal education initiatives across Ukraine, with particular focus on media literacy, critical understanding of history, and supporting local communities. Note: watch for updates.


Ukrainian Independent Media Fundraisers

Campaign run by a consortium of European news agencies working with a growing list of independent Ukrainian news sources to help them maintain news coverage of affected areas.

Separate fundraising campaign for the Kyiv Independent. Already quite successful and aiming to redirect funds to other independent news agencies as well.

A network founded by independent journalists with the aim of filling the gaps they seen in Ukrainian news reporting. They are independent from both the Ukrainian government and Ukrainian business groups. Presently seeking donations to continue coverage of the war.


Ukrainian Jewish Organizations

Initiative of an international Jewish organization running humanitarian programs in western Ukraine (see this link). At present, they are actively distributing food packages and assisting in the evacuation of vulnerable groups.

Ukrainian-Jewish organization maintaining a community aid hotline, distributing resources and financial assistance, faith-based education and monitoring cases of antisemitism.


Ukrainian Muslim Organizations

Ukrainian-Muslim organization engaged in targeted food assistance and other charitable contributions, faith-based education, and monitoring cases of islamophobia.


Crimean Tatar Organizations

Engaged in promoting the protection and realization of the rights of indigenous peoples of Crimea, and activities aimed at the de-occupation and preparation for the reintegration of Crimea. This includes advocacy, legal assistance and monitoring human rights violations.


Ukrainian Roma Organizations

The European Roma Grassroots Organizations Network (ERGO) is partnered with Ukraine-based groups on the ground to help Roma Ukrainians access humanitarian aid and help with relocation/evacuation efforts to address the additional barriers Roma people face. They are looking for donations now.

A grassroots Roma Women's Foundation collaborating with other human rights organizations such as Minority Rights Group (MRG) and European Roma Grassroots Organizations Network (ERGO) to monitor the needs of Roma people in Ukraine, fund programs and distribute resources (food, sanitary products, etc.)
